The police non-emergency number is 101. In Gloucestershire, it has just been revealed that it takes on average more than 4 minutes for your calls to be answered. This long wait is completely unacceptable and leads to large numbers of callers (almost 30%) simply abandoning their calls, meaning that the fight against crime is undermined. The Police and Crime Commissioner needs to set a target of 60 seconds for every call to be answered and ensure there is sufficient investment in the answering service to deliver this target within 6 months.

"We call on Gloucestershire's Police & Crime Commissioner to set a target to answer 101 non-emergency calls within 60 seconds, and pledge to deliver this target within 6 months."
