Gloucestershire County Council is set to invest £6 million into nine of its residential and nursing care homes.
Over the next two years, the county council will extensively refurbish all nine care homes, to substantially improve the environments for the benefit of current and future residents as well as the employees who care for them.
Refurbishments to be made across the care homes include but not limited to:
- Refurbishments of bedrooms, communal areas and back of house areas e.g. kitchens and laundry rooms
- New furniture
- Replacement of existing boilers and lighting which will generate energy efficiencies
Cllr Kathy Williams, cabinet member for adult social care delivery, said: “Protecting the vulnerable is a key priority for the county council – and this investment will ensure these homes provide a comfortable environment for residents”.
