On 24 April, Gloucestershire County Council’s cabinet will approve plans to spend an extra £2.7 million on our county’s schools over the next year.

The extra £2.657 million investment forms part of the council’s commitment to dedicate £100 million into new schools, improving buildings and expanding facilities at schools across Gloucestershire.

If plans are approved, a number of schools across the county will receive capital investment, including:

·         £907,000 towards delivering the high needs programme

·         Thomas Keble School - £74,000 to improve the school facilities

·         Farmors School - £125,000 to improve the school facilities

·         Rednock School - £285,000  to improve sports facilities

·         Mitton Manor Pre School - £8,000 to improve the outdoor play area

·         £100,000 to improve kitchen facilities in schools across the county

Cllr Lynden Stowe, cabinet member for economy, skills and growth at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Young people deserve to have access to good and outstanding school placesclose to their home, which have the best possible facilities.

“To make sure that becomes a reality, we promised to invest £100 million in our county’s schools. This extra funding is just another step towards that promise.

“We are fully committed to making sure young people in Gloucestershire have a positive learning experience and improving their learning environment is one way we can do that.”
